Anyone else enjoy the sound of a PDK shifting gears?

Worth watching just for the noises:

The engine sounds pretty great but I was delightfully surprised that I found the "thump" from the gear changes so appealing.

I'm generally in the stodgy old "M/T for LYFE YO!" camp, but that does sound friggin amazing.

I was lucky enough to see an Alpha 8C a year or two ago. It sounded so goddamn boss on the 1-2 upshift.

This is exactly how I felt; guilty.

I am a hardcore purist when it comes to rowing my own by way of a proper manual (three pedals and a stick!) but I have to admit to the sense of self-loathing I get every time I hear, or drive, or see a really slick manual-auto or DCT/DSG etc just pop and thump I think, "Maybe you need to get with the times, dinosaur."

I agree with both of you and this is good news for car enthusiasts. This means that even when the manual transmission is extinct there will still be an involving/engaging way to drive a car enthusiastically.
